Vermont Woodlands Association recently held their annual meeting, at which our very own co-founder and director Nancy Patch received recognition. VWA announced her award in their newsletter and wrote the following text:
"We are pleased to announce that the first Kathleen Wanner Outstanding Service Award was presented at the VWA Woodlands Conference & Annual Meeting to Nancy Patch, Franklin/Grand Isle County Forester for VT Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. This award was established in 2022 in honor of Kathleen Wanner, longtime VWA Executive Director, for her outstanding leadership and commitment to VWA, Tree Farm and countless other forestry boards and organizations. Nancy was awarded this recognition for her work as a consulting forester and county forester, as vice-chair and co-founder of Cold Hollow to Canada, as a mentor to young foresters, and as part of the initiative Future Forests Reimagined and Two Countries, One Forest. These are just a handful of her activities and recognitions of her work. We thank you, Nancy, for this commitment of stewardship, and for your unwavering voice for the care of our northern forest. As the award plaque reads, 'With integrity and grace, you have ensured the conservation of Vermont’s forests today, tomorrow, and for future generations.' "
