Recreation and Forest Ecosystems

Wednesday, March 19th from 12-1:30PM
ONLINE

Join this webinar to learn about the products developed by Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative to better understand the risks recreational activity poses to forest ecosystems. The FEMC developed geospatial layers available for download that provide a comprehensive analysis of recreational trail use, soil suitability, and wildlife impact. The products can be used by land managers to inform trail management and recreation planning. In addition to these spatial layers, a decision support tool is being finalized to aid land managers in selecting appropriate monitoring methods. Establishing monitoring programs will provide land managers with on-the-ground data to document trends in wildlife populations, invasive plant introduction and establishment, and soil erosion. The webinar will be 1.5 hours, with each talk planned for 40 minutes with a short break between presentations. Join for just one or both talks. Recordings will be made available following the talk.
