Winter Full Moon Hike
Monday, January 13th from 5:30-7PM
Location Details
Audubon Education Barn
255 Sherman Hollow Road, Huntington, 05462, VT
Join us for a full moon walk at the Green Mountain Audubon Center.
Night programs provide an opportunity to explore the Center after hours! A walk in the dark lets acknowledge how much we rely on sight and how vulnerable we feel in the dark while allowing us to look up from the ground and tune in with our ears. This program is for folks of all ages. Children are welcome with an adult.
We will go for a short hike, turning in to who we hear. Depending on weather conditions, participants should bring:
- Warm layers- we will be outdoors for the whole program
- Traction- sturdy warm boots with good tread plus micro spikes, snowshoes, and/or hiking poles can be helpful if slippery/very snowy. Trail conditions are usually snowier than nearby towns. We have a few pair of snowshoes available to borrow for adults and youth.
- A headlamp or flashlight with a red light setting. If your light does not have this setting, we can provide red cellophane and a rubber band!
- A sense of curiosity
Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at a slow pace and will cover approximately 1.5 miles. The trail is unpaved and there are short sections of stairs and hills on the route. Wheelchair-accessible bathroom facilities are located at the Visitor Center, our meeting place. If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at 802/434-3068.
