Meet us on the Visitor Center porch!
Join us for some feathered fun and community science by participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count at Audubon Vermont! Whether you're an experienced birder or a first timer, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local bird species, and contribute to community science efforts to monitor bird populations.
Meet us on the front porch of the Audubon Vermont Center, where staff will be on hand to guide you through birdwatching techniques, identification tips, and share fascinating facts about the avian species that call Vermont home. After we finish our fifteen-minute count you'll have the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings of our Center, and potentially spotting a variety of birds that frequent our forests, fields, and feeders.
What to Expect:
- Guided Birdwatching: Audubon staff will be available to help identify species and eBird hotspot checklists will be provided as well.
- Community Science Participation: Help count birds and report your observations, contributing valuable data to the Great Backyard Bird Count.
- Hot Chocolate: Will be provided by Audubon Staff.
Whether you’re a lifelong bird enthusiast or just getting started, this event is a great way to make a difference for birds and connect with your community. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary.
What to Bring:
- A pair of binoculars (or we can provide some!)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- A notebook or smartphone for recording sightings
